To replace two wooden bridges in the Amsterdam Bijlmer, the municipality of Amsterdam and Stadsdeel Zuidoost held a competition among architectural firms. The design by Korth Tielens Architects won that competition. FiberCore composite bridges with InfraCore® Inside technology were chosen because of the freedom of form and the durable nature of the material. The architectural firm itself called the bridge a Bijlmerbeauty. This coined term refers to the bridge railings, which incorporate part of the history of the Bijlmermeer. In a specific approach to the bridge, renderings of Bijlmer images can be seen in the railings.
