To replace the aging wooden Canadabruggen in Bruges, Belgium, FiberCore Europe supplied two prefabricated composite bridges, including handrails. With a length of 42 meters, they are our longest prefabricated composite bicycle/pedestrian bridges in one piece.

With these bridges, the Flemish Government wants to gain experience with the use of composite as a building material. Therefore, the bridges were already equipped during production with built-in sensors to read the stresses and deformations. Once installed, a number of test loads were carried out after which the measurements were compared with the calculations made in advance. And what turned out: the bridge behaves exemplary!
