For the Municipality of Bunschoten-Spakenburg, FiberCore Europe replaced bridges 43 & 44. The old wooden bridge structures were at the end of their technical lifespan. They were looking for a bridge design with the appearance of the old bridges, but with a lifespan of at least 100 years at minimal maintenance costs.

FiberCore realized two bridges of fiber-reinforced composite based on the patented InfraCoreĀ® Inside technology. The new bridges are closed self-supporting structures which meet the latest standards and guidelines. In order to obtain the appearance of a plank structure in the deck, the wearing course was applied in an interrupted structure.

A special feature of the installation of these bridges was that the bridges were floated (see video below) to their final destinations. This was possible due to the low dead weight of our composite bridges. This allowed the bridges to be placed with minimal environmental disturbance.
