Den Hoorn | Overgaag Bridge

The Overgaag bridge was fitted with a composite driving deck in 2016 to replace steel. By using composite, the bridge deck could be adapted to current standards and guidelines without adding weight to the structure. Movement work and abutments could be retained as a result, so not only could the lead time be shortened but also the costs were lower than full replacement. The new deck is acoustically dampened so that vehicle passages cause less environmental nuisance.
