From quality- and sustainability-conscious Sweden, there had long been interest in composite as a building material. FiberCore had the scoop in 2016 and was allowed to deliver the first prefabricated composite bridge to Sweden. Two new decks for the 1953-built Klaffbron in Malmö; an unusual Scherzer rolling bascule bridge. The original wooden bridge deck had been replaced for an aluminum deck several years earlier. However, this soon showed cracks. After this renovation with a composite from FiberCore, the bridge can again last many years.
