In 2013, SPIE installed this unusual bridge deck between the green steel girders of the Spiering Bridge in Muiden. The underside is adorned with a poem about the Vecht by 19th century politician Jacob Nicolaas Bastert:
O Vecht thou hast stolen my heart
I rise not again from thy ground
Thy ground, which ever of my mild honey
Of milk and tender butter flowing
So I live richer like a king
Ennobled and weary of no care
The bridge is transparent and contemporary, matching both the green surroundings and the historic atmosphere of the Vesting Muiden through shape, material and color. The name of the bridge refers to the nickname for Muiden citizens: Spieringen.
