In November, a new bridge was installed in Oudheusden on Vermeer Street. The old wooden bridge had reached the end of its technical lifespan.
Given its location among trees, which means that the bridge is often in a damp environment, the Municipality of Heusden opted this time for a bridge that would be able to serve its users safely under these conditions in the long term as well.
A fiber-reinforced composite InfraCore bridge was thus an obvious choice. An additional advantage is that the new bridge spans the 13-meter length in one go, whereas the old bridge required two intermediate supports to do so. Wooden intermediate supports are always a concern for managers, as they often develop wood rot around the transition between air and water.
